A Group 2 license is required by HGV/LGV, PCV and Minibus drivers including the following vehicle categories:
- Lorry
- Bus
- Coach
- Ambulance (C1 Medical)
- Minibus (D1 Medical)
You will also require the medical examination report (D4) in the following circumstances:
- This is your first application for a provisional group 2 licence.
- Category C1 (7.5t), C (rigid) or D1 (minibus), D (bus).
- If you are 45 years or older, you will need to renew your group 2 licence every 5 years.
- If you are 65 years or older, you will need to renew your group 2 licence every year.
Taxi Medicals
- In order to drive a taxi, you require a Taxi driver medical assessment.
- Most councils accept medicals from any GMC registered doctors. However, before booking your appointment, please check with your council’s rules to find out whether your council allows private medical assessment.
